You've had one pair of sandals for 13 years?
Yes, they are hand made and numbered, they started slowly in '71 my pair is number 19547...they are up around 37,000 now. Had them resoled with Birkenstock 'tread' last year? but (see link) the sandal makers are recommended for all work done. Worn most months of the year, saddle soap and mink oil are very helpful.
